The Greek Transgender Support Association (GTSA), is a voluntary non-governmental organization that promotes the rights and freedoms of trans, gender-diverse, and LGBTQI persons in general, as well as sex workers,with this press release informs about a meeting of representatives of the GTSA with the Deputy Governor of the Public Employment Service (D.YP.A) Ms. Gianna Chormova, responsible for issues of special and vulnerable social groups, the Deputy Governor responsible for issues related to co-financed actions and programs, Mr. George Christopoulos and others administrative representatives of the D.YP.A.
The meeting took place on Monday, February 13, 2023, lasted about two hours and took place in a particularly good atmosphere.

The GTSA was represented by the President, Anna Apergi Konstantinidi, the General Director Kimon Melikertis and the Secretary, Ekati Roussou. On the part of the Public Employment Service (D.YP.A), the meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor responsible for issues of special and vulnerable social groups, Ms. Gianna Chormova, the Deputy Governor responsible for issues related to co-financed actions and programs, Mr. George Christopoulos, the Head of the General Directorate of Vocational Education & Training, Ms. Athanasia Theodoridou, the Head of the Department of Special and Vulnerable Groups and Equality of the Directorate of Active Policy Programs, Ms. Theodora Makri, the Head of the Department of Special and Vulnerable Groups and Equality of the Directorate of Teaching Methods and Communication Programs , Ms. Anna Bolofi and the Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Workforce Policies, Mr. Grammenos Kontovas.

On behalf of the GTSA, issues were initially raised regarding the Public Employment Service (D.YP.A) in relation to the negative stereotypes, prejudices, harassment, discrimination and gender-based violence faced by trans/gender-diverse persons in the public and private sphere, and especially the serious matter concerning their limited access or their exclusion from the workplace, employment, as well as professional training, the necessity of taking measures by the State for their integration in the above sectors, the ways in which this could be achieved in the most inclusive way, as well as the necessity of continuing educational and training seminars for employees of the Service.

Subsequently, issues were discussed such as the promotion of the enhanced participation of trans persons in the Special Programs at D.YP.A, with the aim of the actual implementation of equal treatment and opportunities, as well as the inclusion and integration of trans persons in Counseling Programs Support and Professional Training.

The representatives of the GTSA submitted a full detailed Memorandum, while the need to continue and deepen contact and dialogue on all the above issues was agreed upon.
